Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been dealt a massive blow just nine days before their IPL 2026 opener against Rajasthan Royals. Australian pacer Nathan Ellis, who was expected to be the franchise's primary death-overs specialist following the departure of Matheesha Pathirana, has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to a hamstring injury.

CSK CEO K.S. Viswanathan confirmed the news on Thursday, stating, "It is a big blow. Nathan Ellis is a crucial fast bowler, especially in the death overs. We are looking for a replacement."

With the clock ticking, here are five overseas pacers currently in the unsold pool who could step into the Yellow Jersey for IPL 2026.

1. Gerald Coetzee (South Africa)

Coetzee is perhaps the most explosive option available. Having previously played for Mumbai Indians, the South African "Karate Kid" brings raw pace and a wicket-taking mentality.
